About our Speaker

Jared Margulies is an Assistant Professor in the Department of Geography and the Environment at the University of Alabama. The Cactus Hunters was published in 2023 by the University of Minnesota Press, and received an Honorable Mention for the 2023 AAG Globe Book Award for Public Understanding of Geography. Jared was named a 2024 National Geographic Explorer in support of his research on illegal plant trade.
