Publications Staff
A little more information about the people who make it all happen.
Peter Breslin
Managing Editor of Cactus and Succulent Journal and Editor of Haseltonia
Peter started studying cacti in habitat more than 30 years ago and decided to get a Ph.D. at Arizona State University in cactus conservation, evolution and biogeography, focused on the Mammillaria and Cochemiea of Baja California. This research was supported by several grants from the CSSA.
He has published widely on topics in cactus evolution and ecology, including being one of the authors of The Field Guide to Cacti and Succulents of Arizona, produced by the Tucson Cactus and Succulent Society. Last year, he conducted the sixth installment since 1964 of the long-term saguaro survey of more than 4000 saguaros on Tumamoc Hill in Tucson, Arizona.
In his current role as a postdoctoral research fellow at The Desert Lab at The University of Arizona, he is exploring data from that survey and others that will assist with saguaro conservation and management.
Linda Tamblyn
Editor of To The Point
After receiving a degree in journalism from the University of Kansas, Linda tried a variety of careers including catering chef, owner of a small business selling terrarium plants and supplies, and as production assistant for film crews. In 2000, she opened her own desktop publishing business specializing in horticultural publications.
From an early age, plants have been a big part of Linda’s life. She currently lives in a suburb of Kansas City and maintains an eclectic collection of succulents, orchids, ferns, and every weird plant that catches her eye.
Maria Voris
Layout and Design Artist of Cactus and Succulent Journal and Haseltonia
Maria works as a landscape architect in Arizona and New Mexico where she combines her love of plants and placemaking to create vibrant spaces for people and nature to thrive.
Before earning a master’s degree in Landscape Architecture from the University of Arizona in 2012 she spent 14 years designing and illustrating educational textbooks. During this time, she became a member of the Tucson Cactus and Succulent Society and later worked on layout and production for the club’s book Field Guide to Cactus and Other Succulents of Arizona.
In her personal life Maria enjoys plant trips (especially of the succulent variety), flamenco dancing, yoga, seeking out quiet places in nature, and being at home with her husband, two cats, desert tortoise and of course the plants of the Sonoran Desert. She also serves on the board of the Tucson Botanical Garden.
