About the Presenter
Petruše Tvrdíková is an avid cactus enthusiast from the Czech Republic who describes herself as “not a professional, just a very enthusiastic amateur.”
Her fascination with cacti began in childhood when she unexpectedly discovered an old greenhouse filled with cacti in the village where she grew up — an experience that left a lasting impression on her. Although her interest in cacti paused for a time, it was rekindled years later when she met her husband, who shared the same passion for these remarkable plants.
Together, they began traveling to observe cacti in habitat, exploring some of the world’s most iconic cactus regions. Since 2008, they have made several expeditions to South America, and in 2018 Petruše fulfilled a longtime dream by visiting Mexico to experience its extraordinary cactus flora firsthand.
About the Webinar
In this presentation, Petruše will share photographs and stories from her travels through regions where Ariocarpus plants grow in habitat, highlighting breathtaking mountain scenery, remote places seemingly untouched by time, and memorable encounters with local people along the way. Attendees will enjoy a unique glimpse into the landscapes and environments that support some of the world’s most sought-after cactus species.
