- Introduction of Affiliate Committee
- Members: John Martinez, M.A. Bjarkman, Judith Goodrode, Ann Hopkins, Art Scarpa (missing Kimberly Gomez-Tong)
- CSSA Website and Affiliate page
- Julie Taber, Business Manager, demonstrated how to update affiliate records on the website.
- Jon Schwark, Website Consultant, demonstrated how we are collecting show and sale videos from YouTube influencers and posting them on our YouTube page for Affiliates to view and share. He asked Affiliates to submit any videos of Affiliate Shows and Sales so that they can post them on YouTube and the CSSA website. Jon will put together instructions and place them on the Affiliate page of the website.

- Affiliate ballots are green and have been mailed directly to Affiliates, not in the Journal.
- Candidate bios are available on the website
- Voting deadline is November 1, 2024.
- Conservation Committee Activities
- Irwin Lightstone described current grant projects in South Africa and Mexico
- Several new documents are available online regarding conservation and ethical collecting
- 2025 CSSA Biennial Convention hosted by the Cactus and Succulent Society of San Diego
- Dates: April 23 – 27, 2025
- Mission Valley Marriott, San Diego, CA
- International and US Speakers lists are available on the website
- CSSA is seeking sponsors for the speakers. We are hoping some Affiliate Societies will sponsor This will be acknowledged in the program booklet, and Affiliate representative will introduce the speaker. More info can be found here
- Affiliates may also wish to sponsor an Affiliate reception, volunteer and speaker snack room, or materials to be placed in the SWAG bags.
- Convention registration will hopefully be online by the end of the month.
- There will be an Affiliate meeting at the convention and a possible Affiliate reception.
- Speakers List Coming Soon
- The Affiliates Committee is compiling a list of possible speakers for use at your local meetings, either in person or online. Please submit the names of your club’s favorites to Julie Taber with the requested information. After approval of the speaker, the names will be posted on our website.
- Plant-of-the-Month
- CSSA is developing some guidelines for Plant-of-the-Month competitions at your local meetings. Stay tuned for more information.
- Eastern Conference 2026
- Art Scarpa announced that the Connecticut, Philadelphia, and Maryland clubs are in the early stages of planning a Conference at Longwood Gardens for 2026. If you are from that area and interested in participating in this endeavor, please contact Art Scarpa.
- Change in Format
- Your suggestions are always welcome and we heard your requests during this meeting. Our next meeting will be using the zoom meeting format so you can see all participants and comment throughout the meeting!
